Event Description

Guests will spend a full, interactive day with Woodford Reserve’s Master Distiller, Chris Morris learning the fine art of crafting and appreciating bourbon - America’s native spirit.  Activities will include an extensive behind the scenes tour of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, an interactive demonstration of using grains to make mash, charring of a barrel and two delicious tastings of a variety of whiskies and bourbons.  The class will also feature an appearance from our Chef in Residence, Ouita Michel who will guide you through a Flavor Wheel demonstration.  Ouita’s culinary team will be providing our guests with a delicious bourbon-inspired lunch as well.  Each person in the class will receive a personalized barrelhead and certificate of completion.

Going to Keeneland on a Saturday this fall?  If so, visit The Woodford Reserve Distillery before heading to the races for a delicious brunch, signature cocktail, and picks from a well-known, local handicapper! 

Just minutes off of Versailles Road, our National Historic Landmark is nestled in between some of the most prestigious horse farms in Central Kentucky.  Begin with a tour of our distillery to discover the five sources of flavor and the authentic techniques used when crafting Woodford Reserve.  While on tour, our Chef-in-Residence Ouita Michel and her culinary team will be hard at work in the kitchen preparing a gourmet brunch from scratch, using only the best local ingredients and Kentucky Proud products, offered with a signature Woodford Reserve cocktail.  As a special treat, meet and receive detailed selections and analysis from nationally syndicated racing analyst.  What a great way to start a Saturday!

Our Woodford in the Kitchen Guest Chef series continues to delight and inspire our guests by bringing a regional variety of chefs to the area to showcase the use of bourbon in their culinary creations.  This month we are honored to host award-winning Louisville Chef Edward Lee.

Guests will begin our sensory experience with a tour of the Woodford Reserve Distillery to discover the five sources of flavor that make our bourbon authentic and unique.  Following the tour, stroll back to the Dryer House to enjoy a cocktail while Chef Lee delights your senses with a demonstration and discussion on cooking with bourbon.  Continue the evening with a Manhattan themed bourbon dinner.  Woodford Reserve’s Chef in Residence Ouita Michel will also be sending you home with a special takeaway. 

Chef Edward Lee’s story – and his food – could only happen in America. One part Southern soul, one part Asian spice and one part New York attitude, Lee is a Korean-American who grew up in Brooklyn, trained in classical French kitchens and has spent the better part of a decade in Louisville, Kentucky.  Chef Lee’s idiosyncratic culinary style draws inspiration from his heritage, his classical training and his adoptive hometown, while celebrating the best ingredients from local farms. But far from relegating him to the realm of the outsider, Lee’s patchwork cuisine has attracted attention and acclaim. A three-time James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef: Southeast, he has been featured in Gourmet, New York Times Magazine, Esquire, Southern Living and many other national publications. He has challenged culinary royalty on Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” and appeared on the CBS “The Early Show” preparing an eclectic three-course meal for a family of four for under $40.
